How to Achieve Glass Skin

There is something incredibly chic about the translucent glow of the glass skin trend. Glass skin can best be described as your most luminous, dewy, so-clear-it’s-almost-transparent skin — aka total #skingoals.

“Glass skin is one of the biggest skin trends of the year, it’s the beautiful no makeup look and as a makeup artist that’s what were always trying to achieve,” said Makeup artist and educator Charlotte Ravet.

There is a certain amount of work that is required to achieve this look but think of it as giving your skin the 360-degree care it needs to thrive. You don’t need to by a million new products, its more about the steps, cleansing properly (either double cleanse or use a cleanser that can both dissolve makeup and water-based impurities), balancing your skin’s pH with a toner, then hydrate, hydrate, hydrate.

“As women use more skincare and become more educated with skin, this look is easier to achieve. The look is nice plump, moisturised, healthy and glowing skin,” explains Charlotte.

Drenching your skin in moisture is the hallmark of the glass skin routine, it’s what gives your skin that glow or liquid highlighter. Made popular by K Beauty, we’ll show you a step-by-step guide on how to achieve dewy, glowing glass skin.

Start Your Day with a Gentle Cleanser

Begin each day with a hydrating cleanser like the Hydro Gel Cleanser. It gently glides across your skin removing impurities while keeping skin calm, balanced, and hydrated. Double cleanse at night to remove makeup, you can do this by using an oil-based cleanser, then a gel-based cleanser.

Cleansing removes all the dirt and impurities off your skin, creating a clean slate for your exfoliant to work with. Your exfoliator will then deep dive into your pores to remove dead skin and help detox your skin and buffing away dullness.

Use a Toner

Toner helps re-set the pH balance of the skin and allows the next steps in your routine to absorb better into the skin. Try our witch hazel toner, pH Balance Gel Toner that’s infused with Niacinamide to even skin tone and reduce the appearance of pores.

Flood Your Skin with a Moisturising Essence

Incorporating a thin water-based product like an essence increases your skin’s moisture retention and aids in the absorption of products, moisturising your skin and providing a natural glow.

Layer on a Hydrating Serum

A must for the glass skin routine is a lightweight, antioxidant heavy serum which helps protect the skin from free radicals, that ultimately result in the signs of ageing. Choose a serum that is not only Hyaluronic based but one that’s also plant based so it’s loaded with antioxidants. Our EPI-gN Serum, is a fast-absorbing formula that’s designed to deliver a ton of powerful actives to your skin including Hyaluronic Acid, Vitamins, Peptides and Minerals.

Use an Antioxidant Rich Moisturiser

Look for moisturiser that’s going to give you an instant burst of hydration. It should go on light, quickly absorb, and moisturise without feeling heavy or greasy like our antioxidant rich day cream Hydrating Day Defence.

Pat on a Firming Eye Cream

Using your ring finger, gently pat an eye cream onto the delicate skin around your eyes, remember not to pull or tug, just gently pat. No eye cream is going to magically erase years of damage but eye creams like the Cellular Eye Repair are going quickly plump and smooth the skin thanks to a formula of Retinol, Niacinamide, Peptides, Avocado and Macadamia Oil.

Remember Your Sun Protection

This is a non-negotiable in any skincare routine but especially in the glass skin routine. You want to look for a SPF that’s hydrating, protecting and won’t leave behind a residue or white cast. Always look for a sunscreen that’s reef safe, you don’t want to see Oxybenzone on the ingredient list.

Finish Off Once a Week with a Hydrating Mask

Remember the key to the glass skin routine is hydrate, hydrate, hydrate so apply a hydrating mask once a week. This can be in the form of a sheet mask loaded with Hyaluronic Acid, or a gel mask loaded with botanicals like ultra-hydrating Aloe Vera. We love to use our pH Balance Gel Toner as a hydrating mask, simply apply a thick layer of toner to your face, leave for 10 minutes and then wash off. Your skin will feel an instant burst of hydration.

Repeat these steps in the evening as well and you’ll be on your way to glowing, luminous glass skin.
